home depot

we keep hiring home depot to install things, because it's inexpensive and easy, and they keep screwing everything up in one way or another. when they delivered our refrigerator, the guys scratched up all our wood trim, not by accident, but out of stubborn stupidity. then there was a big nightmare about an overcharge on our carpet. i could swear there was something else, too.

now, we got a new garage door and opener. the weather stripping "must've fallen off the truck on the freeway", and "oops, we installed a 7 foot opener on your 8 foot door...but it's not our fault, it's the guy who wrote up the order. but we didn't notice that we were putting the wrong size on your house til we were all done."

we've been waiting 2 months for them to come back and fix it. i've called many times and finally got a manager to walk through each step of making the appointment, since i refused to wait for them to call back. they're supposed to be here between 3 and 6pm today. it's 5:23 right now. i'll come give an update later...

update: he showed up at 6:05 to tell me that his "tool" broke and he can come back tomorrow. hey, at least he didn't blow me off altogether. i coulda been running errands, though. oh well, at least now my husband has to deal with it tomorrow cause i'll be at market, lol.

ya know what, the same thing has happened to my father in law too -- but in his case, he made a major stink, kept complaining higher and higher in management and eventually got the job done for FREE. so you may want to consider complaining, given the rotten service! become the squeaky wheel!!!
